Development and Giving

When you give to the Alzheimer's Association, West Virginia Chapter, you can know that your contribution is going to help families and individuals here in our communities. As our logo indicates, we are about people, and helping people. Your donation is an investment in these people.

The Alzheimer's Association, West Virginia Chapter's funding comes from memorial and tribute donations; events such as our Memory Walks; grants; corporate sponsorships; and the generosity of individuals who believe in our mission. This financial support allows us to continue to provide programs and services for persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, their families, and caregivers, - people just like you.

If you would like to support the work that we do, we offer you a variety of ways to help. For a general donation, please send your tax deductible contribution to :

Alzheimer's Association, West Virginia Chapter
1111 Lee Street, East
Charleston, WV 25301

...or to any of our regional offices.

Memorial or Tribute Donations:

This is a wonderful way to honor a loved one and help fight this terrible disease. Please indicate with your donation:
1. The individual in whose memory or honor the donation is made.
2. The name and address where you would like an acknowledgement to be sent.

When we receive memorial or tribute donations, we send a thank you to the donor and an acknowledgement of the gift received to the family of the individual being honored.

Support of Upcoming Events:

Throughout the year, we hold many events that not only raise funds but also raise awareness of the tremendous need.

As a member of our Amethyst Circle you will receive:

  • Recognition in our newsletter as a member of the Amethyst Circle
  • Recognition in the Annual Report mailed to all contributors
  • A very special sterling silver lapel pin designed by jeweler, Scott Petit
  • A certificate of recognition
  • Invitation to a special preview meeting with guest speakers at our educational conferences

With a $5,000 annual contribution, you will be placed at the Diamond level of the Amethyst Circle. In addition to the other listed benefits, you will receive a semi-annual newsletter, published especially for our $5,000 and $10,000 donors.

With a $10,000 contribution, you will be placed in The Dr. Alois Alzheimer Circle. At this level you will be considered a lifetime member of the Amethyst Circle. In addition to the listed benefits, our $10,000 donor names will be placed on a plaque that resides in the lobby of our state office.

A gift of cash results in a current income tax deduction. For a gift of appreciated securities that you have held more than one year, you have the added benefit of owing no tax on the gain.

Planned Giving:

You may name the Alzheimer's Association, West Virginia Chapter as a beneficiary for a planned gift, such as a bequest or trust. It can be as simple as naming the WV Alzheimer's Association in your will, or as detailed as establishing a charitable remainder trust. Not only can you receive the tax benefits of such a gift, but your support will become a legacy that lives on.

To choose the right giving method from the many available options, you must consider your unique financial circumstances and your goals. You may decide to make a planned gift based on humanitarian considerations, financial considerations or for reasons close to your heart.
